The highly anticipated Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards 'AMVCA' is around the corner. We are so excited to see what our favourite celebrities would be wearing. This happens to be the biggest awards show in Nigeria so we expect nothing short of perfection.
While we expect the stars to be donned in custom pieces by their favourite designers, We picked out a few looks from the 2015 Lagos Fashion & Design Week & recently released lookbooks from some African designers that we would LOVE to see on the AMVCA red carpet.
Check out the fabulous looks below:
Chidinma Obairi
Love these pieces off their SS16 ready -to-wear collection. The standout dresses are rich with pearls and swarovski embellishments - exuding class and sophistication. Very AMVCA appropriate.
Bridget Awosika
Let me start by saying Bridget Awosika is a CHAMP for creating this delicate and pristine piece of art! While this may not be the typical AMVCA look celebrities and stylists go for, I think this would be perfect for a fun and classy star who is not afraid to stand out. Eku Edowor comes to mind.
The ruffles, fluff, colour, pleats and cut give off a youthful vibe. While everyone may end up looking the same, this look would definitely be a breath of fresh air on the AMVCA red carpet.
Sevon Dejana
When in doubt, go monochrome! This is a perfect blend of black and white. It looks elegant and effortless. Love the embellishments and little skin action!
Weizdhurm Franklyn
This look is appropriate for a starlet. Probably her first at time at the awards. Not nominated, just looking to have fun. Trying to get a hang of what the AMVCA fuss is about. She's making a statement with this piece while keeping it sexy, fun, and cute! If styled properly, I expect her to be on the radar of major fashion blogs.Jason Boateng
Jason Boateng's SS16 collection is breathtaking. New found respect for this designer. Clean finishing, attention to detail-love it!
I picked 4 dresses. 3 for the main event and the last one for an after party ( if any). The impeccable designs feature Sequins, Fringe, leaf motives, monostrap, embellishments and a train. This is definitely every style star's dream!
This is one of my favourite looks from the designer at fashion week. It's a simple style in front then dramatic at the back. thanks to the long train. I like the twist to it. The fabric is gorgeous! Put this on and you would be blinging your way through the AMVCA red carpet.
DZYN
My second monostrap pick. The style is simple and classy. The eye catching blue embellishments against the white fabric is so beautiful. I recommend this look for a diva who wants to keep it simple and still turn heads.
Menswear
Guys.. lets talk! I know you feel comfortable in your dark coloured suits but It's time to switch it up! Don't get me wrong, black would never go out of style but It's 2016, perfect opportunity to start off the year right by killing it at the AMVCAs.
Make a bold statement on the red carpet by going out of your comfort zone and adding some colour to your wardrobe. Who knows, you just might love it.
